Kara McCoy, violin teacher since 2007 and assistant director for Community Fine Arts Camp (CFAC) since 2013, is dedicated to guiding students into greater levels of excellence in the performing arts.

Kara is a professional violinist in the Kern County area and has performed in several orchestras and symphonies. She has done solo performances with the Tehachapi Symphony as the 2011 Young Artist Competition winner and with the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has played in three master classes for Won Bin Yim and performed on Kern Valley Public Radio’s Young Artist Spotlight program. She has received private instruction from many instructors including the Colburn Community School’s string chair and violin pedagogue Richard Schwabe, and Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra’s former assistant concertmaster Jean Dodson.
 
Beginning performance studies in kindergarten through the Calvary Bible Church children’s music program, Kara’s drama experiences include multiple side and lead character roles as well as vocal and instrumental solos, duets, and trios. She has been on the creative team for more than five shows, and has been an assistant director for thirteen shows and counting. She has worked with students in vocal coaching, drama instruction, choreography, has taught multiple theater dance scenes, and collaborated with skilled ballet students to choreograph solo dances, etc.
