Krista McCoy, Teacher - Voice, Piano
From her first solo at age 3, Krista’s passion for singing could not be hidden. Krista has sung lead soprano in multiple choirs and ensembles and has performed hundreds of concerts in over 16 states and Canada. While singing with the Gary Bonner Singers she was invited to sing with a select ensemble at the White House in Washington D.C. as part of the Holiday Open House event. Krista enjoys singing at her church first and foremost, and various events in the community.

However, singing has had some low points for Krista. While finishing her degree in vocal performance at California Baptist University, severe allergies and asthma threatened her voice. These struggles forced her to search relentlessly for a technique that would heal and free her voice. A well-trained voice is able to not only sing through illnesses, allergies, and high performance demands, but to actually rise stronger and freer. Krista’s students love singing a variety of genres: pop, Broadway, classical, etc. All the while they are developing a freedom and strength that transcends all styles and equips them to be powerful communicators.

Krista also enjoys teaching beginning piano lessons and music theory. Her fresh approach to solfege, chords, harmony, and improvisation through the “Musical Kingdom” has caused her students to view music theory as one of their favorite parts of each lesson. What makes music work? How can I make my music work? All great musicians and future great musicians ask these questions and Krista loves answering them!
